It is not just teenagers that are affected by acne, it can last well into your thirties and forties, and those who have suffered from severe acne, can be left with scars that could last a lifetime!  Finding the right acne treatment is not easy as there are so many products on the market, and not all of them are gentle to your skin. At ScrubsUK we have identified some key acne remedies that have been found to be effective and to present something a little different to acne sufferers. We are interested in clear results, and clear skin, as much as you are!

Did you know?

Around 80% of 11 to 30-year-olds are affected by acne.

Acne vulgaris (or cystic acne) is very common. Acne typically features comedones (blackheads and whiteheads), papules (pinheads), pustules (pimples), Nodules (large papules) and possibly scarring.  Acne affects mostly skin with the densest population of sebaceous follicles; these areas include the face, the upper part of the chest, and the back. Severe acne is inflammatory, but acne can also manifest in noninflammatory forms.

In adolescence, acne is usually caused by an increase in testosterone, which people of both genders accrue during puberty. For most people, acne diminishes over time and tends to disappear — or at the very least decrease — after one reaches one's early twenties. (source: wikipidia)

Besides its potential scaring effects, acne can have some psychological repercussions, as sufferers can become self conscious, and have low self esteem.

Urban myths and acne

We often are lead to believe that poor diet, an unbalanced diet, a fat reach diet can be the cause of acne. There is however, from what we have read, little evidence to suggest that this is the case. Going on a detox diet will not cure acne. There are a host of reasons why eating a balanced diet is good for you, such as a healthy heart, however changing your diet as an acne remedy is not the solution.

Squeezing your spots will not cleanse your skin and could leave you with scaring on your skin.

Over cleansing your skin will not remedy to your acne. A normal routine of cleansing your skin will help, although over cleasing will potentially worsen your skin as it could become flaky, dry and red.

Our OMIC range of acne remedies offers a 3 step approach to dealing with acne. Step one is the use of antibacterial pads to combat the bacteria which causes acne, and therefore clear your skin. Step 2, offers a gel which will clear your skin and pores, thus helping fight these pimples on a daily basis. Step 3 is the application of a lotion which will keep acne at bay! These three steps are part of an effective routine

Knowing Your Skin Type (tips from OMIC)

Step 1 - Cleanse and dry your face and leave it bare for 2 hours.

Step 2 - Press a piece of blotting paper against your nose.

· If there is no oil, tightness or flakes, you have normal skin.

· If there is no oil but your skin feels tight, you have dry skin.

· If there is oil on your nose and cheeks, you have oily skin.

· If you have oil on your nose but not your cheeks, you have combination skin.
